19 Months Old-It's the Best and the Worst

I must preface this statement with saying I have a happy little girl who is really good and I'm thankful for that.  But oh my, I don't think I had any idea exactly how the toddler stage would be.  She is so much fun while so hard to figure out.  I know it's very typical. Toddlers are toddlers.  But I guess it's hard to understand until you have one.  I'm not dealing with many meltdowns or fits (praise the Lord).  Willa knows what she wants and there's no getting in her way.  She's very independent.  Always wants to "walk" on her own when we're out and about. It's like a guessing game to figure out what "some" means and when she says "again" it's not always clear what I'm supposed to do again.  Sometimes her music in the car is playing but she's asking for me to turn on the music.  Then she wants it off.  One days she eats like 3 bananas, the next day she won't touch them.

We are still trying to figure out her food allergies.  Just when we think we know what foods bother her something else happens.  Nothing extreme (haven't had to use the epipen) but reactions that cause us to question, like rash or at worst throwing up.  She seems to have some seasonal allergies as well and all the medications we have tried have just taken the edge off so we are still trying to get them under control.  We are actually going to see an allergist in a few weeks.  Our pediatrician thought it was a good idea but she said she wasn't sure how much they would do for her or what testing they would do at her young age.

She continues to nap good now.  Nights are all over the board still.  I think part of the problem is the allergies because she seems to get a wet cough/drainage at night and no matter what we give her she just can't kick it.

Willa went on her first airplane ride this month.  We went to visit our family in Texas.  She did great on the plane!  In fact, she even nursed and slept right through one landing!

She got up at 4 am with us and we caught a 5:50 flight out of Bloomington.  As you can see I was a little tired myself by this point (right when we landed in Texas).  We flew to Dallas and then had a connecting flight to San Antonio.
TX family (minus "uncle")
She had tons of fun there because they have all kinds of animals and she loved playing with her cousins.  Willa doesn't take after her parents...she likes dogs.  Mom & Dad had tons of fun because we had plenty of babysitters on hand.  We had some serious issues with her allergies in Texas.  She was broken out all over her body pretty much the entire time.  When she would go outside it would get much worse.  But it cleared up a few days after we were home.  I haven't noticed any major issues when she plays outside here like she experienced down there.

We are going to have a fun summer.  She loves to be outside.  We have also been swimming  a few times and she loves it.  The only problem is she has no concept of the water depth, of course.  So when we hold her she always wants to "walk".  Seth took her under a few times, she didn't love it but she also didn't totally freak out.  I'm going to try and take her to mommy and me swim lessons they offer at our town pool.  We also just got a sandbox and water table so she should stay busy in our back yard all summer!

She's not afraid of anything.  Always wants to "hold it"

Collecting her eggs from the chicken coup in TX

Amazingly she never broke one

Her favorite dog Dexter in TX
We went to the Missions in San Antonio for a brief time (Willa wasn't loving it)

This is her "happy face"

Loved shooting the basketball in the pool

She loved the tortillas or as she called it "pizza" in TX...there's nothing quite like them here.  I had a food belly the entire week thanks to these

It rained most of the time we were there but I did get some quiet pool time in one day

We had fun celebrating cousin Della's 21st birthday
Loves her cousin Caleb

Cousin Hanna is a good babysitter
Seth and I went to the Riverwalk one evening

And here are a few shots my fabulous aunt took for us while we were down there.
