Last week was a great running week for me! I haven't really been consistent since I ran the half marathon at the beginning of May. I had actually talked about just giving it up and doing some other type of cardio but running really is convenient (most of the time). I really want to join a gym so I can get in some group fitness classes and tone up a little, but I decided to wait until after the summer is over when I won't want to be outside as much.
I was re-energized when I joined a women's training program through the Lake Run Club here in Bloomington-Normal. Then I recently discovered that Willa enjoys the stroller 75 percent of the time (which I would say is good statistics for an almost eight month old). So now that she likes the stroller and the weather is nice, I really don't have any more excuses for not running. It has worked perfectly a few times to get going at a decent time in the morning so she will actually fall asleep towards the end of the run.
Then I just push the stroller out back and do my stretching and some planks. I managed to run four times last week, including a solo run of almost five miles on Saturday.
On Sunday, Seth and I went for a bike ride. Something we've always enjoyed doing together but haven't done for a long, long time. We rode about 17 miles. I had to recover with a sugar bomb, chilled coffee drink at Gloria Jean's and some chips and salsa from Moe's.
Side note: I don't know why I didn't think of this a long time ago...I went into Moe's and bought a big bag of chips and loaded up on the world's best salsa (in my opinion) to go and it was only $2.18 total. You can't buy it for that at the grocery store. I'll probably become a regular.
It was nice to have the afternoon to ourselves. I had a rough morning with Willa and Seth had to work all morning. Willa didn't seem to mind staying with Uncle Tracy. In fact, she made herself pretty comfortable...
