I've read in books about how you might take your baby for a ride in the car to sooth him or her. But that doesn't work on this baby girl.
I usually fear any sort of trip that's longer than 5 minutes. I make sure she's got her belly full and a dry diaper before we head out the door. The crazy thing is that she's hit and miss. One time she's fine and the next she screams like someone is trying to hurt her. It's horrible.
I'm learning more and more lessons each day with my little burrito.
I have been known to drive Seth crazy because when I leave the house I have a list of dozens of things I need to get done. I want to take care of everything in one trip while I'm out. Well, that won't be happening any more. I made the mistake of trying to do too much with baby girl the other day and it was a disaster.
She screamed in her car seat so bad that she was wet with sweat by the time I got her out. I was at the office in Uptown Normal and planned to feed her and then run to a couple of stores to grab a few Christmas presents. The problem was that she was sooo tired she kept falling asleep while eating. So when I tried to put her in the sling so I could go to the stores she would wake up and get made because she wanted to eat more.
Lesson learned-only try to accomplish one thing per trip out of the house for now. The good part is we live so close to everything so it really won't be that big of a deal to change my habits.
