For the most part we are healthy eaters. But I've really been trying to make sure I get more fruits and vegetables in my diet. I decided a while back my goal should be to eat something green everyday, particularly broccoli or spinach. But the problem is that I don't really love broccoli and unless it's fresh broccoli steamed slightly, then I kinda have to choke it down. I'm not really in love with spinach either. I've tried making a spinach smoothy, which wasn't too bad. The only problem is that it's not convenient during the week. Plus, I only enjoy it when I add all kinds of other ingredients that aren't that good for you, like heavy whipping cream :)
I decided on the 4th of July that I would try using the juicer that my dad gave me. He had bought a second one because he thought the first was a pain to clean, but it turns out his second is also not fun to clean. I had bought some extra vegetables the last time I went to the grocery store so I was prepared to juice. I even had a recipe ready to go. But when I looked at the ingredients I thought to myself "I hope this keeps because it seems like it's going to make a lot". But I was wrong. It only made one glass. All that work for one little glass.
It was a mess and seemed like a lot of effort. But I will say cleaning the actual juicer wasn't that bad.
After Seth pointed it out, I also kinda felt like I was discarding a lot of the nutrients.
The finished product. The one on the left is carrot juice with apple and a tad bit of spinach. The one on the right is beet greens with oranges and lemon. I just finished drinking the green one today. I kinda had to choke it down.
So the final verdict is I probably won't juice again, unless it's carrots. They were the easiest to juice and probably the best to drink.
There are many things that sound like a great idea until you actually do it. What are some of those things for you?

I think your Dad and I forgot to tell you...you can take those 'leftover' goodies and make muffins, breads, and many other 'good-for-you' things!! That way....no waste!!
