My final 5K ended on a high note. We posted an "unofficial" PR (we were going by Corrinne's watch because this race wasn't chip timed). But I have to say I was most excited about the post race food...
I am in semi-retirement for the winter. I plan to keep running a few miles here and there (as long as the weather permits) in order to maintain until the spring. I really have to run some to keep up with the amount of calories I consume!
Speaking of calories...our trip to Indy for the Monumental Marathon was a weekend full of delicious food. We started with our traditional stop at the Beef House.
Friday afternoon we visited Sun King Brewing Company where they had some nice yard ornaments to celebrate "Movember".
You ask, "What is Movember?" Well, here is the official definition from the website. http://us.movember.com/about/
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo's, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
It was different to be spectators at this race, but we had fun with it.
After we cheered them through the three mile mark we headed for a warm breakfast cafe with my favorite feature- self serve coffee.
Seth's first full marathon was a success. After 3 hours, 58 minutes, 10 seconds and 26.2 miles (with some sleet involved)...the boy still had a smile on his face.
His goal was to finish in under 4 hours. He said it was painful towards the end but he won't rule out another one.
We decided it would be best to leave the guys at the hotel to rest for the afternoon while we went shopping.
Meanwhile, I'm procrastinating the start of our winter workout plan--"Insanity". It's a total body conditioning workout video series (I got tired just typing that).
No races on the schedule yet. Although, there is one we could do on New Year's Eve. None of my friends are ready to commit to that one and I'm not sure what I think of that idea either. We'll see....
