To the One that Made Me a Mom

I've been meaning to do this post for several weeks and I'm finally finding time to sit down and get it done.  I thought Mother's Day would be a great day to do it.

Willa is one of a kind.  She keeps us on our toes and makes me laugh one moment and cry the next. Lately I keep asking Seth, what am I going to do with her? She has so much energy that sometimes I just can't keep up. She doesn't know a stranger. Everywhere we take her she talks to everyone. The other day we went to Home Depot. As we were walking she says hi to a random man.  He said hi back.  Then Willa said, "I've got something for you".  We weren't sure where this was going and the man wasn't really sure either.  He said "oh yeah?" as we picked up the pace and kept walking.  Willa was digging in her doggy purse trying to find some random page she had colored and brought with her. When we go on a walk she always yells hi at people and then introduces herself and Leo. She just got to know our neighbor girl recently who is about the same age as her.  Her and Cassidy love to play together now. They will wait for each other to come outside. They are too cute. We have several neighbors with kids her age.  We also play with Cruz from down the street a lot.  When we go to the park near our house Willa always asks "Is Cruz going to be there?"

She is also very independent, which is a good thing and a bad thing.  I love that she an do so much for herself.  She gets dressed in the morning. She is getting better at picking outfits (her favorite is a dress). She wears socks that don't match on purpose.  She also can do the bedtime routine on her own.

She is a climber and a jumper. She climbs up to reach things and jumps off the furniture.  I know some people have rules about jumping and climbing on furniture but we don't.  We have to give her a way to get some of that energy out in the house. She has a small trampoline, which she literally lifts off the ground because she jumps so high on it.

She doesn't miss a thing.  She notices small changes and is always in tune with our conversations.  She will try to be part of the conversation and asks questions.  Her vocabulary is incredible. She's starting to learn how to read a little by learning the sounds of letters.  She still LOVES to read.  We do quiet time in the afternoon and she will sit and read her books.  Occasionally she will fall asleep, which is crazy because she quiet napping at least a year ago. Coloring is one of her favorite things to do.  It will hold her attention for a long time.  Of course, she loves to watch "shows" also but we try to only use that when we need her distracted for a bit. It works like a charm.

She loves to snuggle but has gotten great at going to bed on her own.  She sleeps through the night!  A few years ago I'm sure we never thought this day would come.  But she does great now.

She loves to play with her stuffed animals and dress them up.  Her favorite is her bunny Pistachio. I sure hope we don't lose her! Outside is her favorite place to play.  She is especially enjoying the sandbox now that the weather has gotten nicer.  She also always wants us to push her on the swing. We frequently go to the park as we have several within a mile of our house.

We try to get out of the house at least once a day and that helps our days to go smoothly and not drag.  Willa is always asking, "where are we going today"?  She just loves to be out and about. She especially loves going out to eat and will always ask us to go "out to eat".  Her favorite places are Tony's Tacos, Moe's, Red Robin, & Chick-fil-A. At home her favorite meals are chicken nuggets with honey and taco bowls.

Lots of pics from the last six months...

Taking the Amtrak with Granni to stay at her house for a few days.  Willa loves to stay with Granni/Grandpa & Grandma/Grandpa (never gets home sick)

One of her first official selfies
She drew Granni holding her (notice the bright hair on Granni)
Won a big prize at her first Easter egg hunt.  She had lots of questions this year about Jesus dying on the cross.

 Fell asleep during quiet time

Helping mom in the kitchen. Of course she wants to sample EVERYTHING
