Leo's First Trip

There are things you do with the second child that you wouldn't dream of doing with the first. For example, traveling across the country.  Leo got to go to NYC in utero and now he can check Seattle off his bucket list (even though he was only four months old and will never remember any of it).

Seth had to complete some work training so he decided to pick a spot we had never been to before and take me and Leo along for some fun!  Leo did great for his first trip.  He slept a lot on the plane ride there and was happy most of the time when he was awake.

We did a lot of walking when we were there and since he loves to be held I wasn't sure about dragging a stroller everywhere so I just wore him everywhere.

It was exhausting but he was such a good sport. The two of us got to do lots of sight seeing while dad was hard at work.

Then at the end of the day dad would join us for more exploring and I would get a break.
We didn't go up in the Space Needle.  We did a lot of walking around and seeing stuff.  On Saturday we took the water taxi to West Seattle and ate an awesome brunch at a place right by the water called Salti's. It was amazing.  That was basically our only meal of the day it was sooo much food.

Typically we would  wait until later in the evening to eat hoping that he would sleep right through.  So here is what our meals looked like.

He usually slept for part of the time but sometimes it was tricky keeping him asleep.

The plane ride home was a little rough.  He didn't want to sleep and was very fussy. Here he is telling us he's over it...

We had to leave for the airport at 4 a.m. and were actually able to keep him asleep until right before we had to take him out to go through security. Then things started going downhill.  We picked him up and realized he had blown out his diaper (4th time on the trip...hated using disposables!).  When I went through security carrying a poopy Loe. I set off some sort of alarm with my hand swab and had to be taken aside and pat down.  At least security people were nice and let me hand him off to Seth for a change.

Then when we got to Dallas our flight was just a few minutes late but between that and being at the back of the plane we missed our connecting flight.  We were so frustrated because we saw them closing the door as we were walking up.  The good part was we did get another flight out that day and we had the front seat on the tiny plane so we had more room.  But we had to wait almost four hours at the airport. It took a lot of work but we finally got him asleep on the last leg home!
