The past few years I have enjoyed doing a fun, short year summary for our Christmas cards. But this year I'm going digital. So that means I have unlimited space. I'll warn you now this is long and might get boring. So it's okay to skim :)
January
February
Despite the frigid temperatures Corrinne, Sarah and I bundled up and began our 12 week half marathon training program running in the cold, dark early morning all around the streets of Lincoln.
Me and my grad school buddies, Kirsten and Sara reunited during a weekend getaway in Davenport, Iowa. No, there's really not much to see there. It was just a good geographic location for us to meet.
March
We cheered on the Redbirds Men's Basketball team all season as first time season ticket holders then joined them in St. Louis for the Conference Tournament.April
Seth and I road tripped to San Antonio, TX to see my family and help surprise my uncle Craig for his big 50th birthday party.
I was nearing the end of my first trimester of pregnancy and it was going great with my only symptom being tiredness. I was worried about hiding it from everyone while staying in a house with a bunch of my family for an entire week. I thought we pulled it off. The night of his party I was trying to pretend drink by drinking the same beer as Seth and switching bottles with him, but mom and grandma suspected something was up (although they kept quiet).
We wanted to wait until at least 3 months to tell anyone. So we shared our exciting news a short time later (at 13 weeks), prior to running in the Illinois half marathon in Champaign. I had to announce before the race so my running partners would understand why I was so slow and not able to keep up with them!
I finished about 5 minutes slower than my fastest half- 2:19:22 (10:38/mile pace)
Here is my first official "belly shot" taken on April 22 (13 weeks). I laugh now when I look at it because at the time I thought I had a belly :)
May
We celebrated my niece Karli's High School Graduation...how time flies!
And my belly started to grow by the end of the month.
June
We enjoyed a long weekend vacation with the Smiths and Wilsons in the Ozarks. Thanks to "Uncle" John and "Aunt" Jan for once again being wonderful hosts at their lake house.
July
We made our way back to Raymond for the 4th of July Celebration and I was honored to emcee the queen pageant once again. I particularly enjoyed the homemade pie at the church food stand. It fueled me as I hit a milestone in my pregnancy. Little "Cecil" was now viable and could have survived outside the womb.
August
Knowing that my days without child were numbered my dear friends Corrinne & Sarah decided a relaxing girls weekend would be a good idea. So we headed up to Lake Geneva, WI.
I also spent a day at the State Fair...something I really enjoy doing each year, but Seth could care less. So I went with my friend Stephanie. My favorite parts are the food and the sky glide.
But Conservation world is also fun...
And of course, my belly continued to grow...
September
It was a busy month for us. Between two wonderful baby showers, we packed up all our stuff in Lincoln....
And headed to Normal...
Luckily, I wasn't lifting too much at that point and only had one nervous breakdown during the move.
October
I would like to make this month's heading in 150 font and make it flash because, of course, it was the best month of the year!
This month can probably be summed up in one picture.
Well, we did a lot of that but dad also enjoyed his time with Willa during his two and a half weeks off from work!
December
Getting a family Christmas picture was much, much more difficult this year...
And now we begin 2014 with our family of three and look forward to many more great memories with friends and family as we watch our baby girl grow and change everyday!
