Half Way There

Yesterday we had our 20 week sonogram.  I am excited to report that everything is progressing like it should.  Baby Cecil is weighing in at a whooping 13 ounces.

I actually hesitated to post this sonogram picture because I personally don't get too wrapped up in these.  Don't get me wrong, Seth and I thought it was awesome to see all the baby parts (minus the boy/girl parts).  She even gave us a quick 4D view, which was kinda weird but neat at the same time.  Everyone has their prerogative, but I don't really care about pictures or videos in the womb.

I have been a little anxious because I don't really know if I've felt Cecil moving.  But the little one was a squirmy thing for the sonogram.  The tech kept commenting about how Cecil was so active and asked me what I ate for breakfast and if either Seth or I were hyper children.  Yikes!  If Cecil takes after dad we're in for it.  I know many of you who know him now would find it hard to believe, but he was a WILD child.  I've heard so many stories-I'm scared.  I hope it's not a bad sign that Cecil stuck his/her tongue out at us during the sonogram.

I was happy to be able to ask the doctor some questions that have been concerning me.  Specifically the issue with being on my back.  The doctor reassured me not to worry about it.  All the books have told me that you shouldn't be on your back because the pressure on a certain artery can cut off circulation to your legs.  So as a back sleeper, I have tried to change my sleeping habits and have been careful about spending a lot of time on my back during Pilates.  The doctor told me that it can slow your circulation down and cause some swelling in the feet and legs, but nothing to worry about.  He just advised that if I wake up and feel like my feel are swollen to lay on my side for a while before I get up.  He said not to worry about Pilates.  I know eventually it probably won't be comfortable to be on my back, but for now I'm not going to stress out about it.

This is at the 20 week mark-weight gain 10 lbs. (I don't know why I look so exhausted in this picture because I had laid around the entire day).

  1. Interesting...Seth the wild child!! You know you were not hyper...but you have a sibling that was...and runs in the family. :-) I am sure baby 'Cecil' will not carry on the hyper tradition!
