I am off to a good start this fall! I survived the half marathon (it was questionable around mile 10). The first 9 miles weren't too bad then the old feet and legs were done but I hadn't made it to the finish line. I was feeling it the rest of the day and night. But I gradually recovered over the next few days and was back out for a short training run early the following Tuesday morning.
On race day I think I was most excited about me and Corrinne's matching sleeves and headband.
I purchased them in Michigan at Seth's half Ironman from http://gypsyrunner.com/. Corrinne and I have a lot of matching clothes and I've done it all on purpose. We finished the half in 2:14:19.9 (to be exact). We knocked a few minutes off of our time compared to the half we did in Indy last November (2:16:55.5).
This past Saturday was our first of three 5Ks we will be running this month. I'm afraid I have set the bar a little too high for the month. We had our best 5K time ever at 27:31.2 (8:53/mile average). I have to be very exact when I give out the final times so that you will be able to see even the slightest improvement in my upcoming races ;) Seth also set a PR at 20:30.7 and got 3rd in his age division (that was his first time ever placing in a race).
I've decided I look goofy when I run....
I don't know what's going on with my eyes. I guess I was really focused because this was taken right before the finish line. It kinda reminds me of this pic...

Well, maybe it's not that bad. I am going to start trying Seth's method and posing for all the cameras I see along the run. He's so photogenic sometimes it makes me sick.
Next race is Saturday morning.
