Bad Timing

I was so excited this spring because we decided to be part of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Program.  We had to pay up front and now we are getting fresh veggies each week.  At first it was very exciting.  I found a new love for beets and have also developed a special place in my heart for all kinds of leafy greens.  We were also very hopeful we would sell our house and move to Normal this summer so we opted not to put in our own garden.

Well, wouldn't you know we decided join this program and take the risk the year we would be in a drought :(  I think Seth is probably glad it has left a bad taste in my mouth because now I will probably never want to be part of such program again.  He wasn't really thrilled about it in the beginning.  I am also missing my garden and wish I would have planted something.  But in the meantime, we have had some awesome "local" meals.  Here is one such meal...pork chop (from Beeler Farms), kale and watermelon (both from our CSA).

On a side note, I am on a protein shake kick lately.  I go through phases and always say I am going to try to drink protein shakes because it sounds like it would be a good thing.  Then after I choke one down I remember how bad I hate the after taste of protein powder.  However, a co-worker told me how she makes hers and I love it.  I use part coconut milk and part cow milk with a banana and chocolate protein powder.  It is delicious.  I make it in the morning and take it to work with me for a mid-morning snack.
