The Nashvegas Triathlon was a success. I wish I could report it was a beautiful day for a race but that wasn't the case on Saturday for Corrinne. She started the swim with overcast and drizzly conditions and it rained for almost her entire bicycle ride. Although she faced some challenging hills in the pouring down rain she pushed through. The sun came out by the end of the race. She finished in 6:45:11, which was 3rd in her age division!

Getting pumped for the start of the race.

Here she is rounding the corner for a strong finish. She kicked it in high gear and beat the 40 year old in front of her. Apparently this lady kept her going right at the end.

We were surprised how well she felt after and how she was ready to go so quickly.

Then about 15 minutes later she hit the wall.
Some other highlights of the trip include:
*The sights we saw while driving through Kentucky according to Brad..."Wow, look at that horse pee. It's like a hose." Seth responds..."a fire hose." Corrinne chimes in..."the other day I saw a sheep peeing when we were on a bicycle ride."
*Bleeding nipples after Seth and Brad's 15 mile run in the pouring down rain, while Corrinne completed her bike portion.
*Me choosing to wait out the rain in the cozy car then running almost 8 miles while Corrinne complete her run portion. Couldn't find a good route and I was freaking out about either getting attacked by dogs (because the night before I read a story about runners getting attacked by pit bulls) or getting hit by a car because there were lots of hills with no shoulder to run on.
*Our Saturday night Southern, family style dinner that featured "the best fried chicken in Nashville", ribs, meatloaf, corn pudding (my favorite) and much much more.
*Actually running into someone I knew from Bloomington in downtown Nashville on Saturday night.
I think we all had a great time and I know I am super pumped and proud of Corrinne for finishing so well!
Next race....Decatur Shorline Classic on Sunday.
